Matriarch Merlot
This is a label made for a fictional wine company. This was a project made for a class on packaging design that I took during my last semester of college. The assignment was to create labeling and packaging for a premium beverage.
Design Breakdown
Arachnid Vineyards is a woman owned franchise which loves to present feminine power. The female black widow is the ultimate symbol of female power. Her venom is strong enough to hospitalize an adult human, and her male counterpart is a fraction of her size. She’s the most venomous spider in North America, and all of that power boils down to an hourglass shaped, red warning, widely recognized and feared.
The widow sits on her (selective gloss) web, with her hourglass embossed and glittering. The seal on the neck of the bottle sports a monogrammed M on a red wax stamp.
Bulk packaging
This is the design for the case that 12 wine bottles would ship to stores in. It features the logo for Arachnid Vineyards at the center of a web. The roses adorn the flaps of the box, and the widow herself climbs up the side.
